Air Experience Flight

Ever wondered what it's like to fly?

Then the first step is to take an Air Experience flight (also known as a Trial Instructional Flight). You sit in the pilot's seat and take control of the aircraft under the supervision of an instructor.

The Air Experience flight comprises 4 parts:

  1. Hands on pre flight inspection of the aircraft along with an explanation of all the aircraft's instruments and controls,Air Experience Flight
  2. Learn how to taxi the aircraft while we move out onto the runway in readiness for takeoff,
  3. Fly over breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside around Corowa and the Murray River at 2500 – 3500 ft and
  4. A post flight briefing and a learn to fly pack.

You will have the ability to fly as little or as much as you like during the experience. Your Instructor can answer any questions you may have along the way.

The length of the flight is up to you. The minimum flight length is 30 minutes, but a 60 minute flight is recommended.

An Air Experience flight makes a great gift for someone who has always wanted to be a pilot! Gift Vouchers can be purchased by contacting Corowa Recreational Flying.

The time spent in the aircraft during your flight will count towards your training to obtain your pilot certificate.

  • On the ground
    • Preparation for flight
    • Taxiing
  • Control of the aircraft in normal flight
    • Effects and operations of controls
    • Straight and level flight
    • Climbing and descending
    • Turning the aeroplane
    • Take-off and landing
    • Operations in the vicinity of the aerodrome
  • Advanced manoeuvres
    • Stalling
    • Short field takeoff and landings
    • Forced landings
    • Precautionary search
    • Crosswind circuits
    • Slide slipping

Theory

The theory side of the training consists of the following topics and exams for each must be completed before you can obtain you Pilots Certificate.

  • Pre-solo
  • Radiotelephony
  • Flight rules
  • Basic Aeronautical Knowledge
  • Human Factors

The theory can be undertaken either in the class room situation or via private study.

Once you have completed your Pilot Certificate you can then continue on to complete your passenger carrying and cross county endorsements.

Endorsements

Endorsements

Radio Endorsement

This endorsement allows you to operate the VHF radio. To obtain the endorsement you must pass either a multiple-choice and oral test.Flight plan sml

Passenger Endorsement

Once you have your pilot certificate you want to be able to share your joy of flying with family and friends. To do this you will need to obtain your Passenger carrying endorsement. To qualify, you'll need your RAAus Pilot Certificate and 10 hours Pilot in Command and a check ride.

Cross Country Endorsement

Now that you have your pilot certificate the next step is to complete your cross country endorsement. The endorsement lifts the 25NM area restriction and allows you to fly anywhere in Australia (except controlled airspace) confidently and safely. The endorsement will take between 10-15 hours to complete including a minimum of 2-3 hour solo flight. You will then need to sit and pass a multiple-choice theory test and a flight test.
